if there is no network connection or no signal,you can easily dial 112 from any mobile network ,no matter ,let it be any cell ,you would receive through any near by network and emergency numbers can be dialed from this network
AUTOMATIC KEY LOCK SYSTEMS
if a car is parked in a far away distant place and if you lost the remote to open the car you dial from your mobile to the home /the place where you have kept the duplicate key ask them to keep the key a distance away from the mobile they have and tell them to press the button used to open the car and press it thrice and you take the mobile near the car and the car can be opened .the signal travels through the cell and connects to the car
